COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Honours) Mathematics program provides students with a comprehensive understanding of mathematical theory and its practical applications, preparing them for careers that require analytical and problem-solving skills. In the first year, students develop foundational knowledge through modules in applied data analysis, mathematical and statistical methods, modelling and differential equations, and proof and reasoning, establishing the skills necessary for rigorous mathematical thinking and practical computation. In the second year, the program builds on this foundation with applied modelling and operational research, linear algebra and calculus, mathematical analysis, and statistical theory and modelling, allowing students to tackle complex problems across scientific, technological, and industrial contexts. Students also have the opportunity to study abroad, gaining international experience while applying mathematical techniques in diverse environments. In the final year, advanced modules such as mathematics for sustainability and topics in mathematics and its applications focus on modelling contemporary challenges, while project planning, implementation, and independent research encourage innovation and analytical rigor. Throughout the course, students develop expertise in mathematical modelling, statistical analysis, and problem-solving, equipping them for careers in data analysis, finance, research, engineering, or further postgraduate study in mathematics and related fields.
