COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Honours) Computer Games Technologies program provides a comprehensive education in game development, combining technical expertise, creative design, and practical experience. In the first year, students develop foundational knowledge in programming, mathematics, computer architectures, and game engine technologies while completing a 2D games project that introduces core development principles. The second year builds on these skills through a 3D games project, object-oriented programming, and software-hardware optimisation techniques, while elective modules such as developing game mechanics and graphics and rendering allow students to explore specialized areas and deepen their understanding of interactive systems.In the final year, students undertake a console games project and a development project, focusing on advanced game design, software architecture, and practical implementation, while elective modules such as advanced PlayStation development, effective C++ programming, extended reality development, and extending game engines allow for specialization in emerging technologies and platforms. By the end of the program, graduates possess a strong combination of technical skills, creative insight, and professional experience, preparing them for careers in game design, programming, interactive media, and related technology-driven industries where they can contribute to innovative and high-quality gaming experiences.
