COURSE CURRICULUM

The BEng (Honours) Electrical and Electronic Engineering degree provides a comprehensive education in the principles and applications of modern electrical and electronic systems, combining theoretical knowledge with practical and professional skills. In the first year, students build a solid foundation through modules such as Electrical Engineering Principles, Fundamentals of Analogue and Digital Electronics, Maths and Computational Methods, and Professional Engineering Practice, developing essential analytical, computational, and design skills. The second year advances students’ understanding with Analogue and Digital Electronic Design, Communication Systems and Computer Networks, Electrical Power, Machines, Control and Instrumentation, and an Industrial Group Embedded System Project, offering opportunities to apply theory to practical challenges, work collaboratively, and gain experience with real-world engineering systems. The third year includes a sandwich placement, providing hands-on industry experience that enhances professional competence, technical expertise, and workplace readiness. In the final year, students focus on advanced topics and independent projects through modules such as Electrical, Electronic and Sustainable Energy Systems, Project: Implementation, Project: Management and Scoping, as well as electives including Artificial Intelligence and the Internet of Things and Power Electronics and Control Systems, integrating design, sustainability, and emerging technologies. Graduates leave the program with strong technical knowledge, practical experience, and professional skills, prepared for careers in electrical and electronic engineering, renewable energy, telecommunications, automation, and research, or for further postgraduate study.
