COURSE CURRICULUM

The BEng (Honours) Chemical Engineering degree equips students with a comprehensive understanding of chemical engineering principles, combining theoretical knowledge with practical skills and professional development to prepare for careers in sustainable and green industries. In the first year, students build foundational knowledge through modules such as Chemical Engineering Fundamentals, Chemical Engineering Mathematics, Chemistry, Materials and Employability for Chemical Engineers, and Practical Chemical Engineering, developing essential analytical, laboratory, and problem-solving skills. The second year expands on this foundation with Chemical Engineering Principles, Chemical Reaction Engineering and Thermodynamics, Process Modelling and Control, and Sustainable Chemical Engineering, allowing students to apply theory to real-world processes, understand reaction kinetics, and explore environmentally responsible approaches to industrial challenges. The third year includes a sandwich placement, providing hands-on industry experience and professional development, enabling students to gain practical insight into the chemical engineering sector. In the final year, students consolidate their learning through advanced projects, including an Individual Design Project, Particle Processing and Applications, Reactor Design, and a Sustainable Design Project, combining technical knowledge with research, design, and sustainability considerations. Graduates leave the program with strong technical competence, practical experience, and professional skills, ready to pursue careers in chemical engineering, process design, sustainable technologies, energy sectors, or further postgraduate study, contributing to innovation and responsible industrial practice.
