COURSE CURRICULUM

The BEng (Honours) Mechanical Engineering program provides a rigorous education in mechanical principles, combining theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and professional development to prepare students for diverse engineering careers. In the first year, students gain foundational expertise through modules such as Mechanical Engineering Design and CAD, Mechanical Engineering Practice, Principles of Dynamics and Thermodynamics, Manufacturing Processes and Mathematics, and Principles of Mechanics of Solids and Fluids, Engineering Materials and Mathematics, developing analytical, problem-solving, and technical skills. The second year builds on this foundation with Application of Engineering Analysis, Applied Dynamics and Thermodynamics, Applied Solid and Fluid Mechanics and Control Systems, and Machine Elements Design, allowing students to apply theoretical concepts to practical challenges and develop competencies in design, analysis, and engineering problem-solving. An optional study abroad module provides global industry exposure and interdisciplinary experience. In the final year, advanced modules such as Further Engineering Science and Numerical Analysis, Project: Implementation, Project: Management and Scoping, and electives including Artificial Intelligence and the Internet of Things, Computer Aided Design and Manufacture, and Engineering Management and Entrepreneurship enable students to integrate innovation, project management, and emerging technologies into their work. Graduates leave equipped with strong technical, practical, and professional skills, ready to pursue careers in mechanical design, automotive, aerospace, energy, and advanced manufacturing industries.
