COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA (Honours) Graphic Design course provides a comprehensive and progressive learning experience that develops creativity, technical expertise, and professional awareness. In the first year, students build a strong foundation in design principles and practical skills through modules such as Graphic Design Journeys – Pathways and Disciplines and Graphic Design Unbound – Principles and Skills, exploring diverse visual communication methods and creative processes. The second year focuses on applying these skills in real-world and collaborative contexts through modules like Future Now: Collaboration in Action, Graphic Design Impact – Context and Responsibility, and Graphic Design Life – Making and Visibility, encouraging students to consider the ethical, social, and cultural dimensions of design. An optional Study Abroad – Creative Industries module offers the opportunity to gain international experience and broaden creative perspectives. In the third year, students undertake an undergraduate sandwich placement, gaining professional industry experience and insight into design practice. The final year emphasizes professional development and creative independence through modules such as Graphic Design Being – Portfolio and Practice and Graphic Design Community – Collaboration and Participation, where students refine their personal style and produce a professional portfolio. Graduates emerge as confident, adaptable designers ready to enter the creative industries or pursue further study.
