COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA (Honours) Fashion Design program offers a comprehensive pathway for students to develop their creative and technical skills, preparing them for a career in the global fashion industry. In the first year, students focus on core modules such as Fashion Practice: Design Realisation and Portfolio, and Fashion Practice: Research and Design Principles, which provide a strong foundation in design processes, garment construction, research methodologies, and portfolio development. The second year builds on these skills through Advanced Fashion Practice and Production, Digital Fashion Futures, and collaborative projects like Future Now: Collaboration in Action, encouraging students to experiment with contemporary design techniques, digital tools, and interdisciplinary approaches. Elective opportunities, including the option to study abroad, allow students to gain international perspectives and professional insight into global fashion practices. The third year includes an undergraduate sandwich placement, giving students real-world experience in the industry and enhancing their professional and employability skills. In the final year, students complete the Independent Fashion Project, consisting of Graduate Portfolio development and Research and Design Ideation, which challenges them to produce innovative, self-directed work while demonstrating mastery of design, research, and creative problem-solving. Throughout the program, students are supported in developing a professional, versatile skill set, ready to excel as designers, entrepreneurs, or creative professionals in an evolving fashion landscape.
