COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA (Honours) Illustration course provides a structured journey that nurtures creativity, technical ability, and professional readiness in contemporary illustration. In the first year, modules such as New Adventures in Illustration: Methods, Tools, Technologies and Pencils & Pixels: Drawing Foundations for Illustration introduce key skills, traditional and digital techniques, and experimental approaches to image-making. The second year focuses on applying these skills in professional and collaborative contexts through modules like Future Now: Collaboration in Action, Illustration in Action: Character, Narrative & Sequence, and In Here, Out There: Illustration Agency, which emphasize storytelling, audience engagement, and real-world creative practice. An optional Study Abroad – Creative Industries module offers international experience and cultural exploration. The final year is dedicated to refining artistic identity and preparing for a professional career through Future Paths: Illustration Portfolio and Future Proof: Illustration Practice, where students develop a cohesive, industry-ready portfolio that showcases their creativity and vision. This progression enables graduates to emerge as confident illustrators with strong visual communication skills, prepared for careers in publishing, animation, advertising, design, and other areas of the creative and cultural industries.
