COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA (Honours) Game Design and Development course provides a structured and immersive pathway for students to develop creative, technical, and professional expertise in the gaming industry. In the first year, modules such as Digital Prototyping 1, Game Design Practice, Game Design Theory, and Game Project introduce the fundamentals of game creation, from concept design and mechanics to visual storytelling and player experience. The second year builds upon this foundation with Advanced Game Design Theory, Digital Prototyping 2, Interactive Realities, and Specialist Pathways 1, encouraging students to experiment with emerging technologies and explore specific areas of interest within game design and development. An optional Study Abroad – Creative Industries module offers the opportunity to gain international experience and broaden creative perspectives. In the final year, modules such as Alternate Realities, Specialist Pathways 2, Research and Development Proposal, and the Final Game Project enable students to refine their expertise, conduct independent research, and develop a major project that showcases their creativity and technical proficiency. Graduates leave with a strong portfolio and the skills required for careers in game design, development, and interactive media.
