COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA (Honours) Education with Psychology and Counselling program is designed to provide students with a deep understanding of educational theory, psychological principles, and counselling practice, preparing them for careers in education, therapeutic settings, and related fields. In the first year, students develop foundational knowledge through modules such as Educational Contexts, Introduction to Counselling, Introduction to Psychology, and Learning to Learn, establishing the essential skills needed to understand human behaviour, learning processes, and communication. The second year builds on this foundation, with modules including Counselling Skills for Professional Practice and Educational Psychology, while offering a wide range of electives such as Autism, Childhood and Play, Forest Schools, School and the Curriculum, Trauma Informed Practice, and opportunities to study abroad. These modules allow students to tailor their learning to their interests and gain practical experience working with children, young people, and diverse communities. In the final year, students consolidate their knowledge through modules such as Applying Psychology, Global and Contemporary Issues, Mental Health and Therapeutic Approaches Across the Lifespan, and an independent Project. This combination of theory, practice, and experiential learning ensures graduates are well-prepared for professional practice or further postgraduate study.
