COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Applied Neuroscience at Royal Holloway is structured to provide students with a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of neuroscience. In the first year, students engage with core modules that establish a strong foundation in research methods, statistical analysis, and the application of neuroscience in real-world settings. The Methods in Applied Neuroscience module equips students with essential techniques and experimental approaches, while the Statistics for Research module develops the quantitative skills necessary to analyze complex data sets accurately. The Neuroscience of Emotion and Decision Making module explores how brain function influences behaviour, providing insights into cognitive processes and emotional regulation. In the Neuroscience in the Real World module, students apply their knowledge to practical scenarios, learning how neuroscience can inform decision-making, policy, and clinical practice. The program culminates in an Applied Neuroscience Dissertation, which allows students to conduct an independent research project, integrating their methodological, analytical, and applied skills to address a specific research question. Throughout the course, students also develop professional and ethical competencies through the Academic Integrity module, ensuring that they are prepared to contribute responsibly and effectively to the field. This combination of theory, practice, and research prepares graduates for careers in neuroscience, healthcare, and applied research.
