COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc Psychology program at Royal Holloway University of London is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of human behaviour, thought, and emotion. In the first year, students build foundational knowledge through modules covering psychological research, perception and cognition, neuroscience, development across the lifespan, mental health and wellbeing, and the study of individuals and groups, alongside guidance on professional practice as a psychologist. This establishes a strong grounding in core concepts while fostering academic integrity and critical thinking. In the second year, the curriculum deepens with advanced modules in cognitive psychology, social psychology, developmental psychology, personality and individual differences, and brain and behaviour, alongside rigorous training in research methods and analysis. These modules equip students with analytical, experimental, and interpretative skills needed for independent study. In the final year, students undertake a substantial independent research project, applying theoretical knowledge and practical skills to investigate a topic of personal interest. This process encourages critical thinking, problem-solving, and scientific enquiry while providing hands-on experience in research design, data collection, and analysis.
