COURSE CURRICULUM

The BEng Electronic Engineering program at Royal Holloway offers a comprehensive curriculum designed to equip students with both the theoretical knowledge and practical skills necessary to excel in the rapidly advancing field of electronics. In the first year, students build a solid foundation through modules such as programming in C++, electronic circuits and components, communications engineering, internet services, and mathematics for engineers, complemented by hands-on experience in creative team projects. The second year deepens understanding with advanced topics including embedded systems, software engineering for electronics, signals, systems and communications, control engineering, analogue electronic systems, electronic materials and devices, and professional and sustainable engineering, alongside collaborative team projects that simulate real-world engineering challenges. The third year focuses on consolidating expertise and preparing for professional practice through modules such as individual projects, digital signal processing design, digital systems design, advanced communications systems, and principles of engineering management, giving students practical experience in designing, managing, and implementing complex electronic systems. Across all three years, students benefit from a combination of research-led teaching, hands-on laboratory work, and project-based learning, ensuring they develop critical problem-solving, technical, and project management skills.
