COURSE CURRICULUM

The MA Global Media and Communications program is designed to provide students with an in-depth understanding of the rapidly evolving media landscape and its global impact. In Term 1, students are introduced to the foundational theories and frameworks through the Core Concepts in Global Media module, alongside training in Media Research Design and Methods, equipping them with the analytical and methodological skills needed for advanced study. They also benefit from Masters Perspectives and the option to study a language or special elective, encouraging interdisciplinary learning and global outlooks. In Term 2, the focus shifts to more applied and critical areas, with modules such as Global Mediascapes, which explore the structures and flows of international media, and Critical Perspectives on Data, where students analyse the growing importance of data in shaping communication strategies and media practices. Professional Perspectives further link academic study with industry insights, while elective or language study continues to broaden expertise. Term 3 culminates in the Final Major Project, where students apply their learning to a significant independent research or practice-based project. The program prepares graduates to navigate the opportunities and challenges of global media, communications and data-driven environments with confidence and adaptability.
