COURSE CURRICULUM

The Media and Communications degree is a three-year program that combines theory, critical analysis, and practical skills to prepare students for careers in the fast-changing media industry. In the first year, students build a strong foundation through modules such as Core Concepts in Media, Communications and Culture, Digital Media and Society, Media Histories and Futures, and Introduction to Media Production, alongside Exploring Industry and Entrepreneurship. These modules introduce students to the role of media in shaping society while developing practical production skills. Students also select two additional modules from London Perspectives, Global Perspectives, or language options, including Business English, Advanced Language for Professionals, and Advanced Spanish through Film, which broaden global outlook and communication abilities. The second year advances to applied study with modules such as Media Production and Content Consumption, Interpreting Media, and Global Media Industries. Experiential learning is emphasized through options like Entrepreneurial Challenge, Placement, or Industry Challenge, with the possibility to study abroad for international exposure. The final year focuses on advanced issues with modules such as Media Ethics and Policy and Current Issues in Media, culminating in a showcase portfolio and a two-part Major Project. Special electives and language choices throughout the program allow students to personalize their learning. By graduation, students are equipped with analytical expertise, practical media skills, and industry awareness for diverse careers in communications, journalism, content creation, and digital media.
