COURSE CURRICULUM

The three-year art history program provides students with a structured and immersive exploration of art from historical, cultural, and commercial perspectives. In the first year, students engage with foundational subjects including Art Now, Baroque Art, Renaissance Art, and modules on situating art within broader societal contexts. They also explore industry and entrepreneurship, developing essential skills for navigating the professional art world. Students complement these core courses with common modules, choosing from London Perspectives, Global Perspectives, or language courses to enhance their global and cross-cultural understanding, including options in business English, advanced professional language, and Spanish through film. In the second year, the curriculum advances to Art in the Age of Revolution, Interpreting Art, and The Art Business, combining historical knowledge with practical insight into art markets and institutions. Students further develop professional competencies through Experiencing Industry and Entrepreneurship modules, such as Entrepreneurial Challenge, Placement, or Industry Challenge, and have the option to study abroad. The third year focuses on Twentieth Century Modernisms, Art and the Environment, and the completion of two Major Projects, enabling students to synthesize their learning into substantial independent work. Throughout the program, students can continue to choose special electives or language modules to tailor their education. This structure equips graduates with comprehensive art historical knowledge, practical business acumen, and the analytical and creative skills necessary to thrive in a wide range of art-related careers.
