COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Psychology program is structured to provide students with a deep understanding of psychological research methods, theory, and application. Core modules such as Psychological and Social Research: Review, Evaluation and Design and the Psychology Dissertation develop essential research, analytical, and critical thinking skills, enabling students to design and conduct independent psychological studies. Quantitative Inquiry 1 introduces statistical and data analysis methods fundamental to evidence-based practice. Students can then tailor their learning through a range of optional modules that allow specialization in different areas of psychology. Options such as Qualitative Inquiry and Quantitative Inquiry 2 offer advanced research methodology training, while modules like Advanced Social and Cognitive Neuroscience, Social Neuroscience Techniques, and Laboratory Practicals explore the biological and social bases of behaviour. The Positive Psychology modules – Foundations, Practice, and Critical Perspectives – focus on wellbeing, resilience, and human potential, integrating theory with applied techniques. Additionally, the Current Debates in Psychology module encourages engagement with contemporary issues and critical discussions shaping the field today. This flexible yet rigorous program combines theoretical understanding with practical research experience, preparing graduates for professional roles in psychology, health, and related fields, as well as for further academic study and research careers.
