COURSE CURRICULUM

This cyber security degree offers a comprehensive three-year journey designed to equip students with technical expertise and professional readiness. In Year 1, students are introduced to key computing concepts including software design and development, web design, databases, computer networks, and the principles of cyber security. A strong emphasis is placed on Professional Life Practice modules, which encourage collaborative experimental practice and entrepreneurship, preparing students for interdisciplinary working environments and early engagement with industry. These modules aim to foster innovation and integrate professional development into the academic journey from the start.In Year 2, students deepen their knowledge through more advanced modules in operating systems, cloud computing, ethical hacking, and computer vision with AI. A central component of the year is the continued development of professional and practical skills through the Professional Life Practice and Work-Based Learning modules. These offer industry-facing experiences that enhance employability and encourage entrepreneurship. Students will work on collaborative projects and have the opportunity to engage in placements or live briefs that simulate real-world scenarios.Year 3 consolidates all previously gained knowledge, with students refining their technical and professional skills in preparation for graduate employment. Modules such as advanced secure programming and risk and project management push students to apply their learning in sophisticated and independent ways. The final year also includes a major project, where students demonstrate their capabilities through a comprehensive and outward-facing portfolio. Professional conduct, time management, and project planning are emphasized to simulate a real industry environment. Guest lectures by industry professionals further enhance this experience, helping students align their final work with industry standards.
