COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA (Hons) in Motion Graphics provides a comprehensive and industry-relevant education in the art of animated visual communication. In the first year, students are introduced to the foundational principles of design and animation specific to motion graphics. They build essential skills in storytelling, conceptual thinking, visualisation, typography, and video production, while learning to use industry-standard software such as Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Premiere Pro, and Cinema 4D—all provided free to students. The year also includes contextual studies exploring the history and development of the motion graphics industry, helping students understand the cultural and commercial impact of their work.In the second year, students apply and refine their technical and creative skills through longer, more in-depth projects that mirror real-world professional environments. Modules explore motion branding, purposeful design projects, and the use of emerging and immersive media. Collaboration is a key feature, with opportunities to work across disciplines and on live briefs. A significant emphasis is placed on work-based learning and industry engagement, helping students gain valuable professional experience and insight.The final year focuses on professional readiness and portfolio development. Students undertake self-initiated projects that reflect their individual interests and career goals, supported by mentoring and technical guidance. One module involves entering a major industry competition, allowing students to showcase their talent on a broader stage. Portfolio development, personal branding, and industry-facing critiques help students prepare to enter the creative workforce with confidence. With a strong mix of creative freedom, technical skill-building, and professional development, this degree equips graduates to succeed in diverse roles within the motion graphics and broader visual communication industries.
