COURSE CURRICULUM

The Digital Film Production degree is structured to guide students through a progressive, hands-on learning journey, grounded in both creative exploration and professional development. In the first year, students focus on building core craft skills and developing a broad understanding of the moving image industry. Through collaborative production projects, technical workshops, and analytical sessions, students begin to understand the relationship between storytelling, visual form, and industry practice. The curriculum also includes employability workshops that help students prepare CVs and build online profiles, enhancing their industry awareness from the outset. Modules include Production Skills & Technologies, Storytelling On Screen, and Critical Thinking Through Film.In the second year, students are encouraged to tailor their studies toward specific career goals by choosing up to three specialist disciplines within the moving image field. This stage marks a shift from foundational conventions to more experimental approaches, allowing students to explore creative risks and innovation in their work. Collaboration across disciplines fosters soft skills and emotional intelligence, which are vital for working in the industry. Students also participate in a work-based learning opportunity to gain real-world experience. Key modules include Collaboration, Work-Based Learning, and Professional Life Practice.By the third year, students take full ownership of their learning through self-directed projects and advanced critical engagement. The final major project allows them to demonstrate their technical and creative abilities in a piece of work that serves as a professional portfolio for future employment. Alongside this, they undertake a Professional Practice Research Project, aligning their academic inquiry with career ambitions. The final year emphasizes independent practice and strategic thinking, helping students transition into professional environments with a robust skill set, a strong portfolio, and a clear understanding of their place within the evolving film and media industries.
