COURSE CURRICULUM

This architecture degree offers a progressive learning journey across three years, designed to equip students with the essential knowledge, creative confidence, and practical skills needed for a career in the built environment. In the first year, students are introduced to the core areas of architectural study, including construction principles, structural systems, environmental services, and the historical and theoretical context of architecture. Modules such as Structure, Introduction to Construction, and Environment and Services provide a technical foundation, while Architectural Theory and History and Professional and Business Practice build a broader understanding of the architectural profession and its responsibilities.The second year expands into more advanced and applied areas, focusing on urban design, adaptive reuse, and commercial design. Students engage with topics like Urban Intervention, Urbanism and the History of the City, Branded Environments, and Sustainable Design. These modules encourage students to think critically about how architecture can respond to urban challenges, environmental sustainability, and changing social dynamics. Collaborative design briefs promote teamwork and simulate real-world practice, allowing students to refine their communication and project management skills while working within multidisciplinary teams.In the final year, students consolidate their learning through a major project and a negotiated live brief, both of which demand strong design thinking and independent decision-making. This phase is an opportunity to demonstrate their individual vision and technical capability. A long-form dissertation supports the development of critical research skills and contextual understanding, encouraging students to articulate the theoretical basis of their design work. The course concludes with a focus on preparing for professional practice, helping students develop a portfolio that reflects their comprehensive skill set in design, construction, theory, and professional readiness. Graduates leave well-prepared to pursue further architectural training or entry-level roles in architectural and design practices.
