COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Accounting and Finance (with CIMA) curriculum is designed to provide advanced knowledge of accounting, finance, management, strategy, and research while developing the analytical and professional skills required for senior business and financial roles. Students study International Financial Reporting, which focuses on the preparation, analysis, and critical interpretation of financial statements within an international context, alongside Finance for Managers and Advanced Management Accounting, which develop expertise in financial decision-making, performance management, planning, control, and strategic business support. Corporate Financial Management builds an understanding of modern finance principles and the major financial decisions faced by organisations, while Data Analytics for Management Decision-Making equips students with the ability to collect, evaluate, interpret, and apply data effectively to support management and leadership decisions in contemporary businesses. The programme also includes Research Methods: Problems and Solutions, which develops research design, investigation, and problem-solving capabilities, and Contemporary Issues in Business and Society, which examines global business challenges, responsible management, sustainability, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals while helping students adapt successfully to postgraduate study. Strategic Management provides a comprehensive understanding of long-term organisational success through strategic analysis, planning, and implementation, offering skills that are transferable across a wide range of management functions. Students progressing to the full MSc complete a 60-credit capstone project, choosing between a traditional Accounting or Finance Dissertation, which involves conducting an independent research study on a topic of professional interest; a Business Consultancy in Practice project, where they work directly with an organisation to solve a real business problem and deliver professional recommendations; or the Business Incubation Programme, which supports the creation and development of a new business or social enterprise through mentorship, planning, and entrepreneurial support. Overall, the programme combines advanced accounting and finance knowledge with strategic management, data analysis, research expertise, and practical professional experience, preparing graduates for leadership positions in accounting, finance, consultancy, business management, entrepreneurship, and related professional fields while also accelerating progress toward professional CIMA qualifications.
