COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Physiotherapy (Pre-registration) program includes a comprehensive set of compulsory modules designed to build advanced clinical, professional, and research competencies for modern physiotherapy practice. Students begin with Applied Research Methods, which develops understanding of research methodologies and their application to evidence-based practice in health and social care. Core clinical modules such as Human Movement and Dysfunction, Cardio-Respiratory Physiotherapy, and Neurological Movement Control and Dysfunction focus on developing critical knowledge and practical skills for assessing and managing musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, respiratory, and neurological conditions. These modules emphasise patient-centred care, clinical reasoning, and multidisciplinary collaboration across a range of healthcare settings. Developing Values Based Professionalism supports the formation of professional identity by exploring ethics, regulatory standards, reflective practice, and sound clinical judgement. Leadership and Collaborative Practice prepares students to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams and across organisational boundaries, while also fostering leadership skills for future careers. Health, Wellbeing and Exercise examines the role of physical activity in promoting health across populations, while Physiotherapy Management of Long Term Conditions focuses on supporting individuals with chronic conditions to maintain function and quality of life. Mastering Physiotherapy Practice allows students to tailor their learning through specialist masterclasses aligned with their interests and career goals. The program concludes with a Dissertation, enabling independent research that integrates theory, evidence, and practice to address a focused physiotherapy-related topic.
