COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Management in Health and Social Care includes a set of compulsory and optional modules designed to build advanced leadership, operational, and research skills for healthcare professionals. A key component is Advanced Research Design, which develops data collection, analysis, and interpretation skills to prepare students for their dissertation. Operational Management in Health and Social Care focuses on system design, demand, and capacity management, helping students understand how services are organised and delivered efficiently. Organisational Resource Management examines financial systems, budgeting, and resource allocation within health and social care services, linking finance to service development. Students can choose between Leadership in Health and Social Care or Coaching and Mentoring in Health and Social Care, both aimed at developing leadership capability, team motivation, and professional development skills. Optional modules further enhance learning, including Advanced Communication and Supportive Relationships, which strengthens interpersonal and therapeutic communication skills, and Evidence Based Practice, which develops critical evaluation of research and its application in decision-making. Independent Study allows students to explore a chosen topic in depth under supervision, while Planning and Managing Clinical Trials introduces the principles of designing and conducting ethical and regulated clinical research.
