COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Finance and Analytics program at Oxford Brookes University combines finance, technology, and data analysis to prepare students for modern careers in financial services and business analytics. Core modules introduce students to emerging financial technologies, including artificial intelligence, decentralised systems, and digital innovations reshaping the financial sector. Students develop strong foundations in finance through the study of financial theories, statements, statistical methods, and practical tools such as Excel and Bloomberg. The program also provides hands-on experience in investment and asset management, portfolio construction, risk analysis, and derivatives using Bloomberg Terminal technology. Data-focused modules such as The Practice of Data Analysis and Business Analytics teach students how to analyse, visualise, and interpret data using tools like Python, AWS cloud platforms, and analytics models, while also exploring trends in AI and large language models. Leadership and employability skills are strengthened through modules focused on communication, teamwork, ethics, sustainability, and professional development. The Applied Project allows students to independently manage and complete a research or analytical project related to their interests. Optional modules include Business Intelligence, Corporate Finance, Academic English, and an International Business Study Trip. Students on the sandwich mode also complete a work placement that develops enterprise, innovation, and problem-solving skills within professional organisations.
