COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Electric Motorsport combines advanced electrical engineering, vehicle technology, and practical motorsport applications to prepare students for careers in high-performance automotive and racing industries. The program covers key areas such as control systems engineering, electric power systems, electric vehicles, embedded robotics, programming, and engineering management. You’ll gain expertise in analysing, designing, modelling, and simulating electric vehicle systems using industry-standard tools like MATLAB/Simulink and Python. The course explores advanced technologies including electric powertrains, battery management systems, hybrid propulsion, vehicle stability, active suspension, and real-time embedded robotic systems. A strong emphasis is placed on sustainability, energy efficiency, and the responsible development of electric mobility technologies. You’ll also develop practical problem-solving, research, communication, and project management skills essential for engineering leadership roles. Through laboratory work and software-based projects, students apply theoretical concepts to real-world motorsport and automotive challenges. The program concludes with an individual MSc dissertation, where you can specialise in a chosen area of mechanical or electrical engineering, often through industry-sponsored projects with organisations such as Far-Axon, Clayex/Dymola, Tranquillity Aerospace, and Norbar. This industry-focused approach provides valuable professional experience and prepares graduates for opportunities in Formula 1, Formula E, electric vehicle development, robotics, and advanced automotive engineering sectors.
