COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Data Science and Artificial Intelligence program provides students with advanced technical and analytical skills needed to work with modern data-driven technologies. The course begins by developing strong research and study skills that support academic investigation and the completion of a dissertation project. Students learn programming in Python and gain practical experience in data manipulation, processing, and analysis using industry-relevant software tools and programming libraries. The program introduces core concepts in data science, including data visualisation, statistical modelling, machine learning, and data mining, helping students understand how to extract insights and recognise patterns from large and complex datasets. Students also learn to critically evaluate different analytical methods and develop effective solutions to real-world problems using artificial intelligence techniques. Through live group software projects, students gain experience in teamwork, software development, project management, quality assurance, usability, and human-computer interaction while working on practical data science applications. The course concludes with a substantial dissertation focused on a data science topic related to the student’s area of interest. This independent research project involves conducting a literature review, developing project proposals, applying advanced analytical techniques, and presenting innovative solutions through both written and oral communication, preparing graduates for professional and research careers in AI and data science.
