COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Building Information Modelling and Management program develops advanced knowledge and practical skills in project management, construction technology, and BIM practices within the built environment sector. Students explore how behavioural and organisational factors influence project performance through topics such as leadership, teamwork, communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution. Using problem-based learning and real industry case studies, the course helps students strengthen decision-making and collaborative working abilities. The program also focuses on advanced project planning, scheduling, monitoring, and risk management techniques, including the use of software-based decision-support tools commonly applied in the construction industry. Students gain insight into modern construction innovations such as sustainable construction, off-site construction, smart technologies, and the growing role of Building Information Modelling in improving project delivery and collaboration. Through the BIM in Practice module, students develop an understanding of information-rich BIM technologies, collaborative processes, and their application in real construction environments. Research skills are also a key part of the course, with students learning both qualitative and quantitative research methods, data analysis techniques, and research design principles. The program concludes with a dissertation where students undertake an original research project under academic supervision, allowing them to generate new insights, conduct professional-level research, and communicate complex ideas effectively through written, verbal, and graphical presentations.
