COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Architecture Part 2 (MArch) at Oxford Brookes University is a design-led program that combines creative exploration, advanced research, professional practice, and technical innovation within a dynamic studio-based learning environment. In the first year, students develop critical thinking, research methods, design experimentation, and professional practice skills through modules such as Design Agency and Design Praxis. Students then specialise in one of several studio pathways, including Advanced Architectural Design, Sustainable Architecture, Urban Design, Digital Craft, Interior Architecture, or Global Development and Humanitarian Practice, allowing them to shape their education around personal interests and career ambitions. These specialisations connect students with leading research groups and industry professionals from organisations such as WilkinsonEyre and Foster + Partners. In the second year, students work within advanced design studios to produce a major architectural thesis project that integrates design, sustainability, technology, experimentation, and professional practice. Through collaborative studio culture, weekly symposia, and close guidance from tutors and practitioners, students develop innovative and socially responsible architectural solutions. The program emphasises sustainable design, digital technologies, material experimentation, urban and environmental awareness, and real-world architectural practice. With access to dedicated studio spaces and 24-hour facilities, students gain the professional, creative, and technical expertise required for future careers in architecture, urban design, research, and global practice.
