COURSE CURRICULUM

The Law with Criminology LLB at Oxford Brookes University combines legal education with the study of crime, justice, and society. In the first year, students build strong foundations in English law through modules such as Legal Method, Contract Law, Criminal Law, and Public Law, while also exploring criminological theories about crime, justice, and social control. The second year develops specialist legal knowledge in areas including Tort Law, Land Law, European Union Law, and Digital Crime and Criminology. Students can also choose optional modules covering prisons, organised crime, youth justice, green criminology, globalisation and crime, intersectionality, and practical work-based learning. In the final year, students study Equity and Trusts while selecting advanced optional subjects such as Medical Law, Equality Law, International Human Rights Law, Immigration and Asylum, Artificial Intelligence and Computer Law, and Pathways out of Crime. Opportunities for placements, independent study, and dissertations allow students to apply legal and criminological theories to real-world issues and develop strong research, analytical, and communication skills. Throughout the course, students gain a deep understanding of how law and criminology interact to address social problems, inequality, crime prevention, and justice. Graduates are well prepared for careers in legal practice, criminal justice, public policy, probation services, law enforcement, human rights, or postgraduate study.
