COURSE CURRICULUM

The Construction Project Management BSc (Hons) program provides students with a comprehensive understanding of the construction industry, combining technical, legal, managerial, and commercial knowledge to prepare them for leadership roles in construction projects. In the first year, students develop core skills in construction communication, computer-aided design, quantity surveying, building design, construction law, sustainability, and project management fundamentals. They also learn about building services, cost management, and collaborative teamwork while gaining practical problem-solving abilities. In the second year, the course advances into areas such as construction technology, procurement, contract administration, BIM and digital construction systems, project planning, legal reasoning, risk management, and sustainable development. Students work on integrated urban development projects and strengthen both analytical and teamwork skills. A compulsory placement year in Year 3 allows students to gain at least 36 weeks of professional industry experience with construction firms, developers, and project management organisations, helping them apply academic knowledge in real-world settings. In the final year, students focus on advanced project management, enterprise management, procurement strategies, dispute resolution, facilities management, and independent research through a dissertation. Optional modules such as quantity surveying and building pathology allow further specialisation. Overall, the program prepares graduates for successful careers managing complex construction and development projects.
