COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Real Estate course provides a comprehensive understanding of the property industry, combining legal, financial, planning, construction, and management knowledge with practical professional skills. In the first year, students build foundations in property management, valuation, economics, planning, construction, and real estate law, while developing communication, numeracy, and employability skills through field trips and industry-focused activities. Year two expands this knowledge into land law, landlord and tenant law, property finance, valuation, investment analysis, construction appraisal, and development practice. Students also gain experience using industry-standard software and databases while learning research methods and collaborative working practices relevant to professional real estate careers. In the final year, the course focuses on advanced professional practice, property and asset management, development appraisal, applied valuation, and independent research through a dissertation. Students explore real-world challenges in commercial and residential property markets while strengthening analytical, ethical, and problem-solving abilities. Optional modules allow specialisation in areas such as property technology, ESG and sustainability, residential property, project management, investment, and advanced development. Throughout the course, students engage with practical case studies, industry technologies, and professional standards, preparing them for careers in valuation, development, investment, property management, consultancy, and wider real estate sectors both in the UK and internationally.
