COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Property Development and Planning degree provides a structured pathway into the property, planning, and built environment sectors by combining legal, economic, design, and financial knowledge with applied professional practice. In Year 1, students are introduced to foundational subjects such as development law, economics of the built environment, urban history, sustainability, housing policy, valuation, construction, and spatial planning, building an understanding of how cities and property markets function. Year 2 develops more advanced knowledge through modules in land law, property law, valuation for developers, GIS and urban design, planning policy, research methods, and professional practice, alongside employability-focused group projects and industry software training. Students also explore how development decisions are shaped by policy, finance, and sustainability considerations. In Year 3, learning becomes highly applied, with a major research project and modules focused on real-world development delivery, viability, investment, strategic planning, property technology, regeneration, and applied valuation. Optional modules allow specialisation in areas such as project management, real estate investment, and redevelopment. Across all years, students engage with practical case studies, site analysis, and industry engagement through fieldwork, software tools, and professional collaboration. The program aims to prepare graduates for careers in planning consultancy, development, valuation, or related property and infrastructure roles.
