COURSE CURRICULUM

The Adult Nursing BSc (Hons) curriculum develops the academic, clinical, and professional skills needed to become a registered adult nurse capable of delivering compassionate and evidence-based care. In Year 1, students build foundational knowledge in bioscience, anatomy, physiology, nursing ethics, public health, and professional practice while learning academic writing, critical thinking, and reflective skills. Students also begin clinical placements and simulation learning to develop practical nursing abilities and understand patient-centred care across the lifespan. Year 2 focuses on strengthening therapeutic communication, research skills, health promotion, assessment, diagnosis, and care planning for adults with a variety of health conditions. Students gain deeper understanding of pathophysiology, pharmacology, and clinical decision-making while continuing practical learning through simulation and placements that prepare them for complex healthcare environments. In Year 3, students consolidate their knowledge through advanced study of complex adult healthcare needs, leadership, service improvement, and collaborative multidisciplinary practice. They also complete an independent dissertation project to strengthen research and analytical skills. Extensive clinical placements and immersive simulation experiences throughout the program help students develop confidence, professional identity, and practical competence required for nurse registration. Graduates leave prepared to work in hospitals, community care, rehabilitation, public health, specialist services, and leadership roles within modern healthcare systems while supporting patients with complex physical and mental health needs.
