COURSE CURRICULUM

The Interior Architecture BA (Hons) course combines creative design, technical knowledge and critical thinking to help students understand how interior spaces influence human experience. In the first year, students build a strong foundation in architectural representation, design, technology, history and theory. They learn drawing, modelling, spatial planning and sustainable design while exploring the relationship between architecture, society and user needs. The course also develops communication, research and analytical skills through studio work and design projects. In the second year, students focus on materials exploration, digital culture and advanced interior architecture practices. They experiment with fabrication techniques, prototypes and 3D design software while learning to balance aesthetic, technical and social considerations in interior spaces. Students also study architectural history, urban planning and ethical practice, helping them understand the wider cultural and environmental impact of design. Opportunities for independent study encourage self-directed research and creativity. In the final year, students complete a dissertation and advanced design modules that integrate technical design, sustainability and professional practice. They produce detailed design proposals, technical drawings and models while exploring contemporary issues in interior architecture. Throughout the course, students develop practical, creative and professional skills through hands-on projects, critical research and collaborative learning, preparing them for careers in interior architecture, spatial design and related creative industries.
