COURSE CURRICULUM

The Film Production BA (Hons) offers a practical and industry-focused education that combines filmmaking theory, storytelling, and technical production skills. In the first year, students build foundations in film analysis, screenwriting, sound design, technical production, and the structure of the screen industries while working collaboratively on digital short projects. They gain hands-on experience in camerawork, editing, audio production, and storytelling techniques, alongside opportunities to study film history and soundtrack creation. In the second year, students develop more advanced filmmaking abilities through modules in filmmaking styles, short film production, screenwriting, visual and special effects, and live broadcasting. They also explore areas such as sound effects, Foley, and real-world client-based productions, strengthening teamwork, creative problem-solving, and technical expertise. In the final year, students prepare for careers in the creative industries by focusing on either fiction or non-fiction film pathways. They undertake major projects involving development, production, post-production, and portfolio creation while applying film theory and advanced technical skills. Throughout the course, students work independently and collaboratively, learning professional workflows used across the film and media industries. By graduation, they will have developed a strong creative portfolio and industry-ready skills for careers in filmmaking, screenwriting, broadcasting, editing, sound design, production, and other creative media fields.
