COURSE CURRICULUM

This BA (Hons) in Economics, Politics and International Relations combines economic theory, political analysis, and international relations to help students understand how global systems interact. In the first year, students build foundations in microeconomics, macroeconomics, quantitative methods, political ideology, comparative politics, and the historical development of international relations, alongside global challenges such as inequality, migration, and security. The second year develops intermediate economic theory and policy analysis while expanding research skills, employability, and understanding of global political economy, UK politics, and optional regional or thematic studies such as US or European politics, labour markets, trade, and econometrics. Students also learn how institutions, markets, and governments interact in shaping outcomes. In the final year, students engage with advanced debates on global challenges, sustainability, and social justice, while selecting specialised optional modules including behavioural economics, environmental economics, conflict and peacebuilding, and terrorism studies. A major dissertation allows independent research using quantitative and qualitative methods across economics and politics. Throughout the program, students develop analytical, research, and problem-solving skills, preparing them for careers in policy, finance, international organisations, or further academic study in global affairs and economics. Graduates are equipped for diverse roles in government, NGOs, and multinational organisations worldwide policy analysis careers.
