COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA (Hons) Business Management and International Relations degree combines the study of organisational management with global politics, preparing students to understand how businesses operate within complex international systems. In the first year, students build foundational knowledge in business functions, globalisation, work and employment, entrepreneurship, and the origins and key theories of international relations, while developing critical thinking, research, and communication skills. They also explore major global challenges such as inequality, migration, human rights, and environmental issues, alongside personal and professional development. In the second year, the course develops more advanced understanding through organisational behaviour, supply chain management, global political economy, and research methods, alongside applied learning in operations, sustainability, and international markets. Students also engage with optional modules such as security studies, borders and migration, and business analytics, as well as placement preparation or work-based learning opportunities. The final year focuses on advanced analysis of management, governance, ethics, and global responsibility, including topics such as human rights in business, critical management, and international development. Students complete a dissertation in either business or international relations and can choose specialist modules on violence, ethics, social enterprise, or responsible leadership. Overall, the degree integrates business strategy with political and ethical understanding of global systems, preparing graduates for careers in government, international organisations, NGOs, consultancy, and multinational corporations with a strong emphasis on responsible and sustainable leadership in a global context.
