COURSE CURRICULUM

The Business Management and Geography BA (Hons) degree combines business studies with human and physical geography to develop graduates who understand sustainability, global systems and responsible management. In Year 1, students build foundations in international business, professional practice, and core geographical knowledge, including human and physical geography, environmental systems, and research and fieldwork skills. They learn how businesses operate in global contexts while also exploring spatial inequalities, climate change, and key geographical methods such as mapping, surveys and data collection. Year 2 deepens this understanding through modules in international business strategy, environmental sustainability, and geographical enquiry, alongside career-focused development and placement preparation. Students examine globalisation, trade, environmental challenges, and sustainable development while gaining practical field research experience and optional specialisms such as urban geography or hazard management. In Year 3, students focus on advanced topics including business governance, ethics, human rights, and strategic management in changing environments, alongside a geography or interdisciplinary dissertation. Optional modules allow exploration of climate change, disasters, future cities, and sustainable futures, linking business responsibility with environmental and social challenges. Throughout the program, students develop analytical, research, and communication skills, alongside employability through placements and applied projects. The degree prepares graduates for careers in business, government, NGOs, and environmental sectors, with a strong emphasis on sustainability, ethics, and addressing global challenges through interdisciplinary thinking.
