COURSE CURRICULUM

The Business and Law BA (Hons) at Oxford Brookes University combines legal knowledge with business understanding to prepare students for a wide range of professional careers. The course develops strong analytical, communication, and decision-making skills while helping students understand how law and business work together in modern commercial environments. In the first year, students study core areas such as contract law, legal method, finance, international business, and professional practice, building foundations in both legal reasoning and business operations. The second year expands into organisational behaviour, employment law, company law, tort law for business, and international business law, while offering optional modules in sustainability, environmental law, criminal justice, and international strategy. Students also develop career planning and practical workplace skills through professional practice modules. In the final year, the course focuses on business governance, human rights, commercial law, and interdisciplinary case analysis, encouraging students to evaluate real-world legal and business challenges. Optional modules allow students to explore areas such as business ethics, artificial intelligence, international trade law, crime and society, and responsible leadership. Throughout the course, students gain practical insight into legal and commercial issues, preparing them for careers in business, management, law-related professions, entrepreneurship, or further legal training such as the Solicitors Qualifying Exam.
