COURSE CURRICULUM

The Architecture BA (Hons) course combines creative design, technical knowledge and professional practice to prepare students for careers in architecture and the built environment. In the first year, students build a strong foundation in architectural representation, design, history, theory and technology. They learn drawing, modelling, spatial planning, sustainability and ethical practice while exploring how architecture responds to social, cultural and environmental needs. In the second year, the focus shifts to more advanced architectural design projects that integrate creativity with construction, environmental strategies and digital technologies. Students study urban planning, architectural history, sustainability and digital culture while developing research, analytical and problem-solving skills. Opportunities for independent study encourage personal exploration and critical thinking. In the final year, students work on complex design portfolios and comprehensive architectural projects that reflect professional standards and real-world requirements. They deepen their understanding of structural systems, environmental performance, legislation and ethical responsibilities within the architecture industry. A dissertation module allows students to conduct independent research on architectural topics of personal interest. Throughout the course, students develop practical, creative and communication skills through studio work, workshops and collaborative projects, preparing them for professional architectural practice and future postgraduate study.
