Advanced Structural Analysis focuses on sophisticated analytical methods including stiffness analysis, plastic analysis, plate analysis, and dynamic structural analysis, enabling students to model complex structural systems, understand their behaviour under different loading conditions, and compare software-generated results with theoretical calculations. Finite Element Analysis provides detailed knowledge of one of the most widely used computational techniques in modern engineering, teaching students how to develop numerical models, analyse complex structures using industry-standard software, interpret results, and prepare professional engineering reports supported by graphical and numerical data. Analysis and Design of Specialised Infrastructure broadens expertise beyond buildings to include roads, airfields, ports, and industrial ground floors, developing the ability to critically assess engineering principles, compare alternative design approaches, evaluate design codes, and select optimal infrastructure solutions. The programme culminates in a substantial Research Project or Dissertation, where students independently investigate a complex structural engineering challenge through literature review, research design, data collection, analysis, interpretation, and critical evaluation.
