COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Project Management curriculum provides a comprehensive and professionally focused education that develops the knowledge, skills, and practical capabilities required to manage projects successfully across a wide range of industries and organizational settings. The program begins with Project Management Principles, which introduces the fundamental concepts, methodologies, tools, and techniques of project management, including project lifecycles, stakeholder management, risk management, project environments, and the role of the project manager. Building on this foundation, Maximising Project Success focuses on the practical application of project management techniques in real projects, helping students understand how to overcome contemporary project challenges, deliver benefits, and achieve successful outcomes. Project Management Methodologies explores the various methodologies, frameworks, standards, and certifications used within the profession, enabling students to evaluate and select appropriate approaches for different project environments while understanding how to build effective business cases for project, programme, and portfolio management decisions. Professional Practice supports personal and professional development through mentoring, self-assessment, workshops, experiential learning, and career planning activities designed to enhance employability and leadership potential. In the second stage of the program, Project Planning and Control develops advanced skills in project scheduling, monitoring, performance measurement, resource allocation, and control techniques that are essential for delivering projects on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. International Project Leadership focuses on managing and leading diverse, multicultural, and geographically dispersed project teams, developing expertise in leadership, team development, communication, and cross-cultural collaboration in increasingly global business environments. Project and Programme Strategy examines the relationship between organizational strategy and project delivery, exploring project, programme, and portfolio management alongside concepts such as the Theory of Constraints and strategic project alignment. Research Methods for Project Managers equips students with the ability to design, conduct, and evaluate research that supports evidence-based management decisions and project improvement initiatives. In the final semester, students choose either a Consultancy Experience Project, where they work with real organizations to solve complex business challenges through professional consultancy projects, or a Business Research Project involving independent academic research and critical analysis. Overall, the curriculum combines strategic thinking, leadership development, research capability, project methodologies, planning expertise, and practical application, preparing graduates for careers as project managers, programme managers, project consultants, operations managers, portfolio coordinators, and leadership professionals responsible for delivering complex projects in national and international organizations.
