COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Digital Architecture and Construction programme combines design, technology, and research to develop the knowledge and skills required for leadership in the digital transformation of the built environment. In Semester One, students undertake Digital Architecture and Design Studio, which continues into Semester Two and serves as a central component of the course, allowing them to apply digital design methods to complex architectural and construction challenges. Building Performance explores how buildings function in terms of sustainability, energy efficiency, environmental impact, and occupant wellbeing, helping students create more effective and responsible design solutions. Computational Design introduces advanced digital design techniques, including algorithmic and data-driven approaches, enabling students to develop innovative and responsive architectural concepts. Law of Digital Practice examines the legal, contractual, and professional issues associated with digital technologies in the construction industry. In Semester Two, students study Collaborative BIM, focusing on Building Information Modelling and the collaborative processes that support integrated project delivery across multidisciplinary teams. Students also begin their Research Project, an independent investigation into a specialised topic related to digital architecture or construction. During Semester Three, the Research Project continues, allowing students to conduct in-depth research, evaluate contemporary industry challenges, and propose innovative solutions. Together, these modules provide a strong blend of technical expertise, design thinking, research capability, and professional knowledge, preparing graduates for careers in the digitally driven built environment sector.
