COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Cyber Security programme is structured around a set of specialised modules that provide students with a comprehensive understanding of modern cyber security challenges and solutions. Information and Computer Security introduces the fundamental principles of protecting digital assets, information systems, and computing environments from security threats. Computer Forensics focuses on the investigation and analysis of digital evidence, equipping students with the skills required to identify, preserve, and examine data related to cyber incidents and criminal activities. Ethical Hacking and Penetration Testing develops practical expertise in identifying vulnerabilities and assessing system security through authorised testing techniques. Design and Development of Secure Systems explores secure software engineering principles, enabling students to build applications and systems that are resilient against cyber threats. Network and Cloud Security examines the protection of network infrastructures and cloud-based environments, addressing contemporary security risks in distributed and virtualised systems. The Research Methods module provides students with the academic and analytical skills necessary to conduct independent research, evaluate evidence, and solve complex cyber security problems. The programme culminates in a Major Project, allowing students to undertake an in-depth investigation or practical development project in an area of cyber security that aligns with their interests. Together, these modules develop advanced technical knowledge, critical thinking abilities, and practical experience for professional cyber security careers.
