The MSc in Clinical Exercise Physiology provides a comprehensive curriculum that develops the scientific knowledge, clinical expertise, and professional skills required to use exercise as an effective intervention for individuals with chronic and complex health conditions. The programme begins with Practical Skills for Exercise Physiology, which develops competence in conducting assessments, exercise testing, and monitoring physiological responses to physical activity. Pathophysiology of Chronic Diseases explores the mechanisms, progression, and impact of long-term health conditions, providing a foundation for clinical decision-making. Advanced Exercise Physiology examines the body's responses and adaptations to exercise in both healthy and clinical populations. Effective Practice and Communication focuses on developing communication, interpersonal, and reflective practice skills essential for delivering patient-centred care. Exercise Prescription equips students with the ability to design safe, evidence-based exercise programmes tailored to individual health needs and treatment goals. Safety and Competency to Practice ensures students understand professional standards, risk management, and ethical responsibilities in clinical settings. Clinical Placement and Professional Practice provides valuable hands-on experience, allowing students to apply their knowledge within real healthcare environments while working alongside multidisciplinary teams. The programme culminates in a 60-credit Research Project in Clinical Exercise Physiology, where students undertake an independent investigation into a specialised topic, developing advanced research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
