COURSE CURRICULUM

The MArch Architecture (ARB/RIBA Part 2) programme provides a comprehensive and professionally focused curriculum that develops advanced architectural knowledge, design expertise, and professional competencies. The Architectural Theory and Research Methods module enables students to engage critically with contemporary architectural debates, theories, and research approaches, strengthening their ability to analyse complex design issues and develop informed architectural responses. Through Architectural Technology and Construction Methods, students gain an advanced understanding of building technologies, construction systems, materials, sustainability considerations, and technical design integration within architectural projects. The Management, Practice and Law module introduces the professional, legal, and managerial responsibilities associated with architectural practice, helping students understand the regulatory, ethical, and business aspects of the profession. Vertical Studio 1 forms a central design component of the programme, providing opportunities for collaborative and interdisciplinary studio-based learning where students explore innovative architectural solutions to real-world challenges. The Intervening in the City module focuses on urban environments, encouraging students to examine the social, cultural, environmental, and spatial complexities of cities while developing design proposals that respond to contemporary urban issues. Together, these modules create a balanced educational experience that integrates design creativity, technical knowledge, research capability, and professional practice. The programme equips students with the advanced skills required for professional architectural work and prepares them for progression towards registration and leadership roles within the architecture and built environment sectors.
