COURSE CURRICULUM

The LLB (Hons) Law curriculum is designed to provide students with a strong foundation in legal knowledge while developing practical, analytical, and professional skills essential for a legal career. In Year 1, students study core areas including contract law, tort law, public law, legal reasoning, professional practice, research skills, and international, European, and comparative law. These modules establish a comprehensive understanding of legal systems and strengthen problem-solving, communication, and critical thinking abilities. In Year 2, students can choose between two study routes. Route One focuses on practical legal training through core modules in criminal law, land law, and trusts, alongside Applied Legal Knowledge in Civil Practice and optional subjects such as employment law, human rights, commercial law, or family law. Route Two offers greater flexibility through opportunities for international study or professional work placements, combined with core legal studies and optional modules covering international and comparative legal topics. In the final year, students complete practice-focused modules including Law in Practice, Path to Professional Practice, and Applied Legal Knowledge in criminal and business practice. They can further specialise through a wide range of optional subjects, including company law, intellectual property law, medical law, immigration and asylum law, international trade law, human rights, and criminal justice. Together, these modules prepare graduates for diverse careers within the legal profession and related sectors through a combination of academic study and practical experience.
