COURSE CURRICULUM

The LLB (Hons) Law with Psychology curriculum combines legal studies with psychological theory, enabling students to develop an understanding of both legal systems and human behaviour. In Year 1, students build a strong foundation in law through modules covering contract law, public law, legal practice, and the professional legal environment, while also studying introductory psychology and research methods. These modules develop essential analytical, research, and problem-solving skills while introducing key psychological concepts. In Year 2, students expand their legal knowledge through the study of civil practice, criminal law, tort law, and international, European, and comparative law. Alongside these subjects, they explore cognitive psychology, brain function, social development, and human behaviour, gaining valuable insights into the psychological factors that influence individuals and society. In the final year, students undertake advanced legal studies in land law, trusts, and legal psychology, examining the relationship between psychological principles and legal processes. They can personalise their degree through psychology options such as cyberpsychology, psychology of religion, psychology of sex, gender and identity, and topics relating to influence and behaviour. Students also select from professional practice modules and a wide range of specialist legal subjects, including commercial law, human rights, family law, intellectual property law, international law, and criminal justice. Together, these modules develop strong legal, psychological, research, and communication skills, preparing graduates for careers in law, criminal justice, policy, research, and related professional fields.
