COURSE CURRICULUM

The LLB (Hons) International Law curriculum provides students with a strong foundation in legal principles while developing specialised knowledge of international and comparative law. In Year 1, students are introduced to key areas of law through modules covering contract law, tort law, public law, legal reasoning, research skills, professional practice, and international, European, and comparative legal systems. These modules help students develop critical thinking, problem-solving, presentation, and academic skills essential for legal study and future professional practice. In Year 2, students build on this foundation through the study of criminal law, land law, trusts, and advanced legal reasoning, alongside an employer challenge that enhances practical and workplace skills. Students can either undertake an international study experience or focus on specialist modules in public international law, comparative law, and current issues in international law, broadening their global legal perspective. In the final year, students apply their knowledge through practice-focused modules such as Law in Practice, Path to Professional Practice, and Applied Legal Knowledge. They can also tailor their studies by choosing from a wide range of optional subjects, including commercial law, company law, employment law, family law, intellectual property law, and medical law. Additional international law options, such as human rights, immigration and asylum law, international trade law, international criminal justice, and laws of armed conflict, allow students to develop expertise in global legal issues and prepare for diverse legal careers.
